Share your synthesizer music!
Re: Share your synthesizer music!
Gotta love the ease of use of those Tascam casette decks. Great stuff!

Thanks...I think ?
This was recorded, I will admit a little hot in the mix but, entirely in the digital domain...
But it's true that I use Audacity as I would any other analog multi-track equipment.

He was referring to 1djwally1 who said he recorded on an old Tascam 4 track (didn't say whether is was a cassette Portastudio or a reel to reel).thealien666 wrote:Thanks...I think ?

Shifting the blame....
No, I was thinking, Hmmm....how can I respond to that.
And yeah, Vsyevolod, I totally didn't consider the reel to reel decks.
I hesitate to compliment people on their music in this thread because if you compliment one and not everyone's then someone is at risk getting butt-hurt. But there is a tremendous amount of great material here. I prefer listening to people's music on soundcloud and youtube because it's so much closer to where the real action is than the radio.
But Alain, I've been subscribed to your channel for some time now.

I have a beat up old Tascam Porta07 ministudio (4 track cassette). It's a little testy, but still ticking!Vsyevolod wrote:He was referring to 1djwally1 who said he recorded on an old Tascam 4 track (didn't say whether is was a cassette Portastudio or a reel to reel).thealien666 wrote:Thanks...I think ?

Re: Share your synthesizer music!
I just finished an EP of five songs. The Minitaur and Sub Phatty are the main instruments. When they are not played by hand they are sequenced by a Korg Volca Bass with the Midi-Out-mod. All songs are on the front page of http://www.defyrastecken.se.
A few songs are up on YouTube as well, this one has a pretty harsh Minitaur-sound for the melody throughout https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kYWvAxjfWjY.
I'm curious what you guys think of it.

Re: Share your synthesizer music!
Been feeling the cold weather here in Minnesota lately, so I made some frosty sounds to let out some of the frustration. Here is the first of what will most likely be many wintery tracks: https://soundcloud.com/glacieracademy/third-winter
I've gotten some new equipment since my last post here as well, so I'll talk about what I used: Roland JP-8000, which has turned out to be amazingly useful and fun to work with. Probably the most fun I've ever had with a digital synthesizer. Elektron Machinedrum: I've been looking for a good rhythm box for a few years now, went through Electribe and MPC and neither worked out very well, but I think I've hit the mark with the Elektron box. People talk about the steep Elektron learning curve, but everything seemed so simple and easy from the get go with this one. I LOVE the parameter locks! It really breathes life into everything you do, makes it really feel like it's alive.
Those were the only two pieces of gear I used to make the track. I hope you lot enjoy it.

Re: Share your synthesizer music!
I'll have to listen to that soon - 50's rock 'n' roll through the apartment right now
The JP-8000... I remember drooling over that guy as a teenager. Sometimes I am siezed by a sort of madness, like in I-ll-buy-it-just-so-that-I-know-what-ut-feel-at-last!!
Elektron MD. This has been my drum machine of choice for seven years now. Actually, it's been my drummer / live sampler / dynamic effect processor / live improv' core instrument of choice for seven years. Do you have the UW version? To me it doubles the interest in the instrument. No, it more-than-double it, really.
The learning curve is stiffer with the MonoMchine or the Octatrack. I think the MD is the most direct one, though I don't speak for newer units. However, once you're into Elektron philosophy, every other piece of gear they make is easier to use. I tried an AnalogKeys a couple of months ago, in a shop. 20 minutes. I was blocked twice for 2 minutes. Other than that, I made just what I had in mind. Impressive.
