Here are some demos using a few different effects in the Mixer Out/Filter In jack on the Moog Voyager.
Oscillator one is the only oscillator this is being used. All parimeters are the same for each demo. The only difference is the effect in the loop.
There is no modulation and the filter is wide open.
These are demos to give an idea what is possible.
Thanks for viewing and please comments. Questions and requests are appreciated.
Demo one.
Moog phase. No CV going to the effect. Dramatic changes with the RATE control. Nice sounding. The demo does not do justice. Analog goo.

Demo Two.
Moog Ring Mod. There is a S+H LFO controlling the frequency of the RM.

Demo Three.
Mooger FreqBox 107. The same CV that is used to modulate the frequency of the Voyager is used on the 107. This is supplied from a Dot Com Q119 analog sequencer.

Demo Four.
Foxrox Paradox TZF. This effect is no longer in production. Beatuiful sounds. Unique and sounds great in the loop!

Demo Five.
Sherman Filterbank 2. Last but not least is this analog monster. Unpredictable and mean. Break-up like nothing I have used. Crazy sounds.

You said the settings are the same on all of them but it appears that you didn't move to the sawtooth wave on the Sherman Filterbank 2 example. At least I didn't notice that you did. Also I'm wondering why you did that--at least in the other 4 examples--where you illustrate at the beginning that you're changing the waveshape setting to sawtooth and the sound gets edgier (sounds like the filter is opening up but the sawtooth is an edgier sound that probably lends itself better to those effects.
Thanks for posting this. This gives me ideas.
A question about the mixer out/filter in jack: There are 2 jacks, correct? This is a "pre-filter section" effects loop? Is it variable? Never mind.. I just looked at the specs and found out it is an fx insert jack...Thanks..Inquiring Mini model D owners want to know. Thanks!

Why wait?EricK wrote:Im not clicking on your demos until this contest is over lololol
Im sure they are neat.
Eric
Nice catch. I indeed did not change the waveform. The reason is the other effects "need' a sharper waveform to "bite" onto. The Sherman needs nothig in order to bite. You said the settings are the same on all of them but it appears that you didn't move to the sawtooth wave on the Sherman Filterbank 2 example.

Thanks for the nice comments.Love the ring mod demo.
I also love the Moog RM. I owned a Vermona ring mod before I purchased the Moog. As soon I as baught the Moog, I sold the Vermona to fund another Moog. The Moog sounded better to my ears.

Yea, the Sherman can be a beast. I do not use it a whole lot. Would never consider selling, it just has its moments. It can make anything sound different. It is powerful and unpredictable. I have a love hate relationship with it. Sometimes it is quite hard to use in a practical way.Ironicallly the filterbank one was not in the tops of my preferences.
I really love the 107 FreqBox. I have seen some negative comments here about the 107. Everyone uses it differently though. It is super fun. I made 2 demos using the FreqBox as extra oscillators for the Voyager. I will start a thread adressing that. The surprisingly cool effect to me was the Freq Box.
Hey, at least I'm good for a laugh.I laughed my butt off when i fell for it.
I did put the MuRF in the loop. the results were.... well... not worth recording. I tried and tried to get it perfect, but failed.
I also stuck the 104z Delay in there. I spent about 4 hours with just the delay in the loop of the Voyager. I did some messing around with CV options going to the delay. (most with the touch screen)
It is absolutely killer sounding.
I liked it best with no CV going to the delay though. Tweaking the knobs is interstellar. I was having so much fun with the delay that I could not find the time to record a tiny demo. Maybe soon.

The Filterbank is such a well-known filter effect, I wouldn't just use this example as a reason why to or not to want to get one. It did sound like I was listening to the Filterbank and that the oscillator underneath was more incidental rather than essential to the result. You're getting me interested in looking at this stuff.. Money is an issue with me but I still appreciate the great ideas you've put in there.
