Official 2009 Moog Halloween Theremin Video Poll
I have to say, no offense to the video or the creator, but the "halloween theremin" video was one of the least creative and showed some of the least amount of skill out of all of these. I'm rather disappointed and I can probably speak for a few others as well. I was hoping that the most competition would be coming from quality videos and playing such as "Phantasma", "Etherferatu", "Night/Dawn of the Theremin", "Pure Analog Sound..." and the like, not this one. That said, sad indeed. But C'est la vie I guess.

I would like to thank my friends, family members and co-workers who took the time to register and vote on my video.
Music can Name the Unnamable and Communicate the Unknowable.
'I am... everything is... changed... they're calling... your face... interwoven... who is...' Patient mumbles inaudibly to a tune (sounds like 'Thanks for the memory).

Im glad this contest is over with, now I can get back to normal.
THe last thing I wanted to see come Nov, 02 was "Vote until the 30th"
Its been a hell of a rollercoaster ride since the first day of shooting, to the submission, to today.
I thought that the Night/Dawn of the Theremin was funny and good production level. I knew with that entry that this contest was going to be a hard one to win.
I laughed my butt off at the winning submission!
"They are watching you" was very spooky - I really enjoyed it.
Happy Halloween 2009 - excellent sounds going on there, nice studio!
Rob, Ive already told you your video was great lol.
Mood and the Moog- I really liked DEATH! I liked how you entered from one side and left from the other like a Classical Pianist.
Space Landscape- I was so happy to see an Ethervox (You wanna donate it to the Rhythmicons Charity for Starving Artists?) I love the sounds you had Midid up there.
Raul,
Damn fine video there, loads of Moogs. Just goes to show you theres NEVER TOO MUCH MOOG on a track! lolol
Dyster- I really thought this was the video to beat. This one gripped my emotions like a real film would. Very excellent. I think you shoudl get a prize.
Halloween Theremin Nightmare- This is also one of my favorites! I loved the fact that you did Jeckyl and Hyde. I thought "Wow, this guys intonation is great" then you pulled a Jimi Hendrix and did everything to that theremin except Burn it. Freakin Great Job!!!!
Nightmare before Halloween- I was really impressed by the music and the imagery you had going on in here.
Gordon- I have seen your videos a long time and I think you have some extremely creative entries.
Phantasma- Ive told you already on the thereminworld forum, but Ill tell you again you need to stick around here because your video was exceptional. Very good intonation and good cinematography.
-Chromatic Fantasy- Man It takes some skill to play the piano like you did, and I too have used my head and various other parts of the body to play my theremin! I enjoyed it very much and I was glad to see a Russian taking part in Mr Termin's legacy.
There was a missing video that I thought was nice. I think the contestand pulled the vid? Showed what looked to be the beach? Still a great contribution, wish I could watch it again.
There was also a robbie the robot video that I thought was hillarious too that I don't see anywhere on here.
Everyone,
I wanted to give my analysis in real time as I saw these coming out but I wanted to win too, lol. I think that everyone here definately contributed to Theremin Culture. I think ive said that a few times, but really, I believe that so few people in the world really know about this instrument. In the future, people are going to be seeing these videos and think that we are either all on drugs or crazy doing the things that we did with these theremins! hahaha. It was a pleasure to have an entry beside all of yours and I hope that all of you will stick around and contribute to the forum.
I hope I didn't leave anyone out!
Most Respectfully,
Eric

so is it even over for real yet? b/c i noticed based on the noon stop time that one person should have won, but that votes have been continually tallying all day.
on top of all that...
i don't find the results to be that accurate as I still have 6-8 people that have yet to receive administration approval to even enter the site and vote and those people that didn't receive it until today wouldn't have had a chance to vote because of the poll's stop time.

seems to me some of the voting sez more about human nature than about what is the best videoCaptRob wrote:I have to say, no offense to the video or the creator, but the "halloween theremin" video was one of the least creative and showed some of the least amount of skill out of all of these. hope it doesnt put moog off doing simmilar comps in the future - mebye with a panel of judges insted of a public vote
Congratulations to the winners.
However, if this competition happens next year (which would be great) it would be nice if we learn from this year:
1. It doesn't give you confidence that you are being fairly judged if it is on the honor system with the possibility that somebody could make multiple accounts to vote.
2. People that wanted to vote seemed to have a lot of problems getting it to happen. It's hard enough getting people to register with the forum but slow responses with registration didn't help either. Some people were just confused or found it difficult for whatever reason (couldn't find voting buttons etc.).
3. If you have a big network of friends it really helps but is it fair that it comes down to a personal popularity contest?
4. Hits on Youtube may be somebody clicking the refresh or the result of a video reply to a popular video!
5. How about an impartial panel of Moog people to judge the competition? Maybe categories of best video, best playing and best original music?
Whadya think?

I also had many people who wanted to vote but were unable. A bit disappointing that their votes couldn't be counted.r_tist wrote:Congratulations to the winners.
