Led replacement

Post by denoiser » Sat Nov 10, 2007 10:57 am

Some days ago one of the leds of the OSC knob stop working and now I don't know what to do. It's under warranty but I don't want to send it to service just for a single led.

So the question is... Has anybody tried to replace some malfunction led?

Malfunction LEDs are really rare these days.
So maybe there is only a soldering bad.
keep on turning these Moog knobs

Sequence:
Prodigy * minimoog '79 * Voyager * MF102 * MF103 * MF104z * MP201 * Taurus 3 * Minitaur * Sub Phatty * MF105 * Minimoog 2017+ MUSE * One 16

The same happened to my LP a while ago. It's one of the LEDs around the Env-knob that has stopped glowing (or at least glows much less brightly)...
It feels silly to send away the entire synth for such a small thing, but it also feels bad to have my precious Phatty in a severed state when it's still under warranty.
Have you had any contact with Moog about it?

I started by emailing Moog, but got no response...
So I eventually contacted the store where I bought the synth. They contacted the distributor, who said that I shall send it to them as soon as they get the spare parts. And then they'll fix it for me.
I hope that it will be soon, since it's only under warranty for about a month more...

Three LP users with an LED cop out on them...Wow.

Moog Music really need to work on this, why should we put up with this???

Ok, the LP sounds great, but no excuse for slack on build qaulity and poor component choice.

Some days ago I e-mailed the distributor in Spain asking if the solution was easy to perform. I was suggested not to do it and to send it to repair (for free since it's under warranty) because it was hard to do it. They told me a special piece (?) is needed to change the led.

I didn't start this post to complain about anything, just to find a solution. Though I'm quite dissapointed with the overall quality (without onsidering the sound of course). I had to send it to repair because a key was not working, my unit has some minor cosmetic flaws on the wood panels, now a led... :'(

But, at least... It SOUNDS :)
