Can you make a Timpanic drum sound with either a Mother 32 or DFAM.

Hi all. Im looking for a patch that might simulate as close as possible the sound of a timpanic drum. I have a DFAM and a Mother32 (Subharmonicon is probably a few weeks away). I am looking to mimic the idea of a Timpanic drum, doesnt have to sound exactly like one, just has to sound somewhat like one. In fact, I kinda want it to sound like a computer from the 80's with an 8 bit sound card, so I specifically don't want it to sound exactly like one.

Is this even possible with the gear in hand? Maybe a patch between the two that somehow makes the sound? (I have protools and Ableton Live with a fair amount of plugins to help with the process).
