Hi people,
This question is about the preset system used in Keith Emerson's modular. Could any of you tell me if it had anything to with what was designed for the Satillite? I know that both of them are hard-wired preset set-ups. Can anyone confirm or deny if there's a connection?

Just saw this old post. Well, there is not REAL similarity, other than the preset idea (pre-digital memory) was to set trimmers (small internal pots) to your favorite settings and use them inserted instead of the front panel knobs. On the Satellite and many synths, presets were resistors fixed at the wanted resistance value. Same result, but the Emerson type was USER-adjustable.
I appreciate the response, however long it took.
I asked the question, because the old preset synths by Moog and ARP both predated the now-standard microprocessor-controlled RAM by eight years, and it is real interesting. It kind of reminds me of the journey to MIDI, everybody trying different things until it all fell together.
