Is The AU Little Phatty Editor for Mac 64 bit ?

Post by cane creek » Mon Apr 16, 2012 5:45 pm

I'm wanting to buy little Phatty Editor, however I need to know if the Audio unit is 64 bit ?

If it is only 32bit then the GUI will keep vanishing via Logics 32bit bridge when you click elsewhere which is just annoying and not very practible.

So if it's 64bit I'm in............... Just need to know before I buy

Hi Cane Creek

Doesn't seem to indicate that it is available as a 64bit version..

http://rekonaudio.com/index.php?page=sh ... &Itemid=29

...but I would suggest that you email RekonAudio directly to see if this indeed the case:

Hope this helps...

Thanks for the reply, I'll contact Rekon.

I wonder if Rekon & Moog are aware that Apple are no longer going to support 32bit in future versions of Logic most developers have been warned by Apple via email.

UPDATE, I'VE CONTACTED REKON SUPPORT AND AWAIT THEIR REPLY.

Just got confirmation from Rekon support that the 2.1.0 version
comes in 32 and 64 bit version AU and VST plug-in format.

That's great news

Would you mind posting a mini-review of your impressions? What do you think of the plugin? Is it worth the money? Likes/dislikes?

Hey,

I just bought the VST editor and I'm running Logic 9. I was curious as to how you set it up. I have everything working i.e. I have MIDI data from my Akai MPK into Logic, to the vst editor. And I can send MIDI info from the SLim Phatty to the vst editor. My problem is I cannot hear anything. I'm not sure if I'm missing a step, but the Slim Phatty is connected via USB. Do I still need to connect the 1/4" out into my soundcard?

Your help would be greatly appreciated,

Thanks in advance!

Yes you need to connect a 1/4" to your soundcard, the USB transmits Midi only not Audio

You then need to create a Mono Audio track in logic so you can hear the sound of the Phatty (make sure the track is armed, the "I" button should be orange)
You also need to create a Midi track to open the editor.

Thanks for the video! Very helpful.

How do you like it? Do you find that it speeds up the workflow with the Phatty? Is it a must-have or a nice-to-have?

The editor does everything it says on the tin, control your little Phatty from within your DAW like it was a plugin if you like the idea of controlling little phattys parameters via your DAWs automation then the editor is well worth buying.

Can't really comment on workflow as I've only tested to see if the editor works and not produced any tracks with it yet, on testing I ran into zero problems

Thanks cane creek... can I ask a view more questions?

Does it pop up in the efx menu as well, the slim phatty takes audio in right, so how does the synth plug work with the ext audio, I didn't see any reference to EXT audio on the graphic interface ? :0
And what happens if you stack a second unit on top with the editor... and and and and :)
