Moog Taurus 3 Drum Solo! really :-)

Post by tempustry » Mon Jul 11, 2011 11:31 am

http://contest.drummeroftomorrow.com/co ... try/804947

This is me performing a short drum solo simultaniously playing the Moog Taurus 3 pedals, vocoding through a Moog Voyager with vintage Roland SVC-350, and rocking out to a nasty vintage Serge Modular synthesizer riff I brewed, sampled and triggered via a Korg sampler behind me. enjoy!!!

please VOTE at the link above & share the link THANKS!

Wow Allen... very nice. And I assume you were simply listening the midi clock in your right ear? Good stuff.

Was that the Moog Vocoder/Auto tune unit that we heard so little about or some old-school Vocoder triggering a Voyager envelope? In any case, I think you've got a lock over the other rookies.

The Professor (Bubba) has done some pretty interesting things starting back with the Simmons that I know you own several of; the guy from Def Leopard who lost his arm in an accident was an early adopter of Shark pedals but I haven't seen Taurus used. Bravo.

Unless there is a late entry by FutureMan (Victor Wooten's brother); I think you've got this

(the crowd wants more!)
'76 Minimoog, Taurus 3, Oberheim FVS + Son of 2-voice; Sequential ProOne; Juno 106; Moog Model 15; Kurzweil 250; Hammond M3; and a handful of Fender Basses Flickr!

Thanks for the kind words. Taurmorrow LOL! I was actually listening to a monitor mix of my drums plus an mp3 file which I counted myself in on and counted down the minutes and final 10 seconds of the competition time limit of 3 minutes.

The vocoding... yup. I had a cool sounding Moog Minimoog Model D patch I created on the Voyager with Envelope/Gate set to on, hit the key I wanted the vocoding in (E) and fed this and my headphone microphone into a Roland SVC-350 Vocoder (of Styx Mr Roboto fame lol).

Actually, the output of the vocoder was not only my vocals, but all my acoustic drums came through vocoded as well. lol. Since I only sang at the beginning and end, I deleted the rest of the track though. Sounded cool listening to that track solo'd. :-)

If you like the solo feel free to share to others and actually VOTE on the video, the top 100 VOTED videos are considered by judges, and 16 drummers will fly to Nashville to record a professional drum video for next stage of competition. Would be most cool, but I'm not holding my breath. lol.

Ok I uploaded the HD version on youtube. enjoy. (The contest limited upload file size, so I was forced to upload in SD.)
