LP2: Improved Keybed?
LP2: Improved Keybed?
I was at GC the other day checking out the LP2, the sales person insisted Moog has upgraded the keys on the LP2. Can anyone confirm this?

There are a couple of minor improvements but it's the same basic keybed. One thing that was done was to add a strip of damping foam behind the key springs; this creates a somewhat smoother and quieter action. That's the only obvious improvement of which I am aware; otherwise it's just a matter of small refinements to the manufacturing process, to increase the overall quality of what is basically the same product.

would it be possible to retrofit a tribute with this? keys are kinda noisy :)
sure, you could do it yourself with a strip of grey foam weatherstripping such as you'd put on the edge of a door to keep draughts out. That's basically what it is. It just tucks in under the springs (you remove the springs, put in the foam strip, then replace the springs). That's about all there is to it, really...
Waitaminnit...this isn't the same foam that turns to oily goo in twenty years and gets into every nook and cranny, is it? I'm thinking MG-1, Liberation, Etc.

Hi Amos! Fancy seeing you here on a Saturday! Thanks for the reply! I was worried for the Stage II owners! BTW, I sent you a PM.
