Music can Name the Unnamable and Communicate the Unknowable.
'I am... everything is... changed... they're calling... your face... interwoven... who is...' Patient mumbles inaudibly to a tune (sounds like 'Thanks for the memory).

What if you didn't have to pay anything to use it?synthetic wrote:The Moog pr0n pay site?
If free to all, would everyone then use MoogSpace to post photos, MP3s/videos, and files there instead of having them scattered all over this forum and over hundreds of other web sites? From an organizational standpoint, having everything related to Moog gear located in a single place (MoogSpace) makes the most sense if people are willing to post there.
I know there are a good number of people out there who shun using the current version of MoogSpace because of the cost issue. If free, would that make a difference? Would you use it then?
Thoughts?

Hell yea I'd use it! I know it's a tough call. I could see both sides of the fence. The only thing that really sucks is the user base is scattered now. If it's made free will that bring all of us together again?GregAE wrote:If free, would that make a difference? Would you use it then?

I was only a member of Squarewave for a month or so before it went away. It seemed to have a pretty active user base. If Moogspace could bring that back I'd use it. Right now there's a lack of content and nothing there I couldn't get from the forums. If it was actually updated on a regular basis rather than every 2 months or so I'd probably pay too. That said free is always good.GregAE wrote:If free, would that make a difference? Would you use it then?

I can't speak for Moog, but I know they are considering some changes for MoogSpace. What may come of this is anyone's guess.Modularfan wrote:Do you know something you're not telling us? Regarding the question 'would you use it if free?', I know that sometimes a bad experience can result in a 'I'm NEVER going to use it' attitude, regardless of what happens afterward. Hopefully this won't be the case if Moog decides to make MoogSpace free.
Personally, I'd love to see all Moog information (files, patches, photos, videos, links, etc.) centrally located - it makes too much sense not to have it this way. MoogSpace is the obvious place for this content, but since some users are put off by the current arrangement and refuse to participate, some changes are clearly needed to make this happen. Fortunately, I understand that some work is being done on this.
Stay tuned!
We had this thread before.
The content is right now rather dead. Except for the Moogler there had been no new content for more then a half year. OK, some text and a few pictures from music fairs.
The MoogSpace has some odd ends:
- pictures will download and not shown in a new window
- there is not much feedback on questions asked in the MoogSpace Board
A server and a huge bandwidth is not costing that much anymore. For 500$ you get plenty of it. And having the Moog data under control of Moog is better for continuity then a Yahoo! group. I really miss the great Yahoo! group Greg maintained.
On the other hand, a really small fee would keep spamers out.
I wonder when Moog will actually start MoogSpace as a lifing service. With news about Moog shown there at least at the same time as on the Moog Music Homepage. And not a week or two later. And with some real Q&A section that is maintained.
And while we are at it: Why is there still the PHPbb logo on this forum here on each page. It is really easy to exchange it with a Moog logo. And the look of this forum does not match the MoogMusic or the Moog Space pages at all. This template can be adjusted to look way more "Moog" within minutes for the forum administrator. But my two emails I send offering help (for free) were not yet answered with a "yes". They only answered "we will think about it".
I am very sure, there are also other people willing to help here and there to make this Moog forum and MoogSpace a living platform for the Moog community.

"The idea that some musical instruments are more natural than others is pure nonsense. Except for the human voice, all musical instruments are highly contrived, wholly artificial, and utterly dependant upon the most advanced technologies of the time in which they are developed. When we view musical instruments this way, we see the widespread use of electronics in the production of the music of our time is not a break with tradition, but a clear continuation of it."
