Has anyone had their E1 refretted yet? Mine has significant fret wear and I'm strongly considering a refret with SS frets.
Anyone know if stainless steel frets will impact an E1 negatively? It should work, right?
thanks.
E1 refret?
Re: E1 refret?
It should be fine.
I talked to Mr. Maass about having him build me a custom with Stainless Steel Frets a while back. It didn't happen, but that was only due to funds.

Ah, excellent! That's exactly what I wanted to read. SS frets it is then.
Thanks.

Re: E1 refret?
Well it only took THREE years but I finally had my E1 re-fretted. It now has Jescar 55090-S frets (basically stainless steel 6105s) and the difference between them and the OEM nickel-silver frets is tremendous.. Whammy'd chords are no longer feel like the strings are 'sawing' through the frets. Bends are butter smoov. No real tonal change that I've noticed either. It is a far more 'playable' instrument now.
Just something to keep in mind, I suppose.

Re: E1 refret?
I had my frets plek'd, not once, but twice since I wasn't happy with the results. Either the plek operator had no clue what he was doing or something is up with my E1... it buzzes like crazy from the frets. Even after the second time it still buzzed bad. I almost wonder if I should just have the damn thing refretted. What's a re-fret typically cost?
Re: E1 refret?
You're looking at $300-500, depending on the condition of the neck itself.
