Loving it except for 1 thing

Post by machinea » Sun Aug 30, 2009 10:06 pm

So I got my voyager about 2 weeks ago and I just grow to love it more and more each day. I noticed when I began playing it that the low C key was a tad sticky. Well not exactly sticky but it didn't fire as easily as the others when pressing. mostly this isn't a problem when I press straight down with a bit more force it triggers fine but if I can press it down repeatedly with very light pressure & it wont sound at all.

Has anyone else had this happen? And if so were you able to fix it? I was hoping that with some playing whatever was a problem would loosen up ... like maybe some packing material got in there and with some compressed air and playing it might dislodge something. (that is what moog's service center suggested anyway) It doesn't seem noticeable most of the time but every once in a while its pretty obvious and kinda disappointing.

I'm trying to avoid shipping it to N.C. (although if I do ship it I can get all my switches changed to red, its a s.s. fire so that would be nice) I was just mostly hoping this is something that could be fixed more easily than that.

i have an old school voyager, but if your keybed is attached to the chassis the same as mine, you can slightly loosen the 8 screws holding the keybed in place, and move it slightly to the right....there is about an 1/8" of play in there. get it where you want it with hopefully no sticking and tighten the screws

Hey girl! Glad to see you finally made it here :D

Still got that sticky key eh? You'll get it sorted I'm sure.

Yeah it would be so cool to have a copy of your voyager with all the red but you know you had a real reason to ship it back.

I'm going to get another can of compressed air and try to loosen the keybed a bit. Hopefully that will do it. Something tells me that isn't it though .. something about that key just feels different than the rest when I press it down. Maybe it is some packing material in the way but I actually doubt it.
