Actually I think its pretty funny how you can compare a Matrix 6 and having 6 MiniMoogs, and yet you point out the fact that I confused the Voyager for the Model D. I have blasphemed!!

Saying that the Matrix 6 is like having 6 minimoogs is still utter crap. The Matrix 6 is STILL a CEM based synth, and the minimoog is STILL a discrete synth. Two very differant beasts. And what do you mean by I would also suggest that one of the reasons there is a classic Moog sound is not the sound...

array-you are off your head and talk like an already insane person, but you are very entertaining to say they least,Remember though we are not laughing with you but at you for being so very silly.I think the Voyager is similar to moon cheese custard but the sound it makes is like a fine vintage toot...

Don't most polyphonic instruments have a monophonic mode? I mean why can't I compare my Voyager to my Access Virus C, with the Virus in monophonic mode? To me this is the same thing and fair game. Ummm....why not compare a trumpet and a flute then? Just because 2 instruments share a similar interfa...

Why not compare them as 2 discrete synths? No. You're just blurring the issue and attempting to legitimize the argument by introducing another grey area. One is monophonic, one is polyphonic. There is no comparision. Period. Thats ridiculous. You of all people, being an EE and all, should see how t...

wouldn't a polyphonic voyager be the size of a memorymoog-retail 4999.99 Release Date Summer 2006-Memorymoog Voyager-Only 1000 will be made!!!! No...a polyphonic voyager would NOT be the size of a memorymoog. The only discrete component inside the MemoryMoog is the filter. The oscillators are IC. A...

Will the Voyager play chords? No. Pads? Naught. Strings? 'Fraid not. Horn sections? Uh-uh. Piano arpeggios? Not likely. Organ blasts? Sorry. It's an irrelevant comparision - monophonic and polyphonic are two totally different animals. You can't compare them. You might as well compare a drum to a pi...

Yeah, Tom Oberheim's SEM (Synthesizer Expander Module) was a pretty cool idea. They were originally sold as an add-on to the MiniMoog and Arp 2600. The differance between the SEM and the Prophet 5 though, is that the SEM were discrete, making them more expensive to produce. The analogy between the M...

moog can market and build a polyphonic synth of the voyagers quality, bob moog already stated that in several interviews. So then the only reason for that we dont have said synth is because Dr. Moog is a grumpy old meany and that he likes to deprive musicians of high quality musical instruments? The...

Well yeah, the Yamaha CS-80 was a fully discrete synth, and it weighed around 100kg for 8 voices. I think that such an endeavor would put Moog Music out of business. Oh well, ya can't blame a guy for wishful thinking. If Moog's business expands at the rate it seems to be heading, then maybe there w...

Yes you can. Go back and read my reply.goldphinga wrote: U CANT COMPARE A MONOSYNTH TO A POLYSYNTH.
Also, if you deem a thread to be useless, how does making ANOTHER thread about the manner not any less useless?

Hmmm...It depends on which sound you prefer. The Voyager has a very nice discrete sound which is typical of the 70's. The Prophet 5 uses IC's to generate its sound. Depending on which revision you get, you will either get an SSM based synth (revision 1 and 2) or a CEM based synth (revision 3). Sayin...

Actually no. A 5u rack would be FAR too small for a polyphonic Voyager. The Voyager keyboard itself is packed to capacity with circuitry, and im sure that the RME is as well. Just check out these photos (thanks QWave): http://www.till-kopper.de/voyager.html In contrast, here is an inside look at the ...
