Operating from 1933 through 1957, Black Mountain College was one of the leading experimental art schools in America.  Modeled after the interdisciplinary curriculum of the Bauhaus, Black Mountain College attracted such notable students and teachers as R. Buckminster Fuller, Elaine and Willem de Kooning and Robert Rauschenberg.  John Cage experimented with his first "Musical Happenings" at the college as early as 1952.

In January 2015, Moog announced that for the first time in more than 30 years, we would once again build the large format modular synthesizers first introduced by, Dr. Robert Moog in 1964. 2015, the 50th anniversary year of Moog synthesizers also marks the 10th anniversary of the passing of Dr. Robert ‘Bob’ Moog (1934-2005), inventor of the Moog synthesizer.
