The Model E1 is the production model of The Moog Guitar. It uses the same innovative electronics and pick-ups as the original Paul Vo Collector Edition, with some exciting new changes.
It’s available in three new finishes; Butterscotch, Candy Red and Black, and now sports chrome hardware, a solid alder body and a choice of fixed or tremolo bridges.
Every once in a while something comes along that keeps you up for nights at a time; permeating your mind like your first love. For many of us here at Moog, the Moog Guitar has generated a number of sleepless nights.
Many of you, great customers who have trusted us for years, may be wondering "Why a guitar?" I understand perfectly. From the outside it may not make sense, but trust us again when I say this is an instrument like no other.
When you put it in your hands, or maybe more correctly your guitar playing bandmate puts it in their hands, and you see the glee on their face as they imagine the sonic palette this instrument makes possible, you will truly understand. It’s at that point, you’ll think to yourself – "Moog’s done it again."
Thanks for placing your trust in Moog Music.

"Excellent craftsmanship! This electric guitar is magical without an amp. The sounds emitting just from the guitar is mystical. You will get drawn to it physically as you play it. The sustain is rich with harmonics. The un-sustain mode is just as bizarre: it physically feels different. Strange...Amp it and it goes into the stratosphere." -Joey Santiago~ The Pixies and The Everybody

Even after my brief encounter with the Moog Guitar, I had already begun thinking of it as a new type of instrument rather than merely as an enhanced electric guitar, much as acoustic guitarists in the ‘50s may have felt when first encountering the electric guitar, or late-18th Century harpsichordists when encountering the piano. And because it’s potential is inextricably linked to the player’s fingers and musical sensibilities—rather than the technology itself—it is limited only by one’s dexterity and imagination.

I really love that it is a 'physical' instrument... the sustain etc aren't generated by electronic means but are coming from what a guitar IS. I also was really impressed with the guitar itself, how well setup and playable it was right out of the box, it's a terrific guitar on its own.
I have been working on material for a new record and every time I get into my studio I wind up playing the thing for a while before I start working. It reminds me of when I was a kid and first got a guitar.

MY MOOG GUITAR WAS DELIVERED TODAY. It has fulfilled my wildest guitar dreams... Playing this guitar is like experiencing driving a Cadillac for the first time after driving a Volkswagen bug all your life. ...the sound is just delicious!!. "You get what you pay for" And this guitar is worth every penny spent on it. All the videos and Youtube films really don't capture the sound quality at all. You just have to jam on one for yourself and you'll see.
So far, I can't find a thing wrong with it. It seems to be "Par Excellence"

Guitarists Julian Lage and Brett Comeaux stopped by the Moog Factory and checked out The Moog Guitar. It was great to see two incredible players put the guitar through its paces!
Here's a video that shows some of the great performance techniques possible when you use the new Etherwave Plus to sweep the internal filter of The Moog Guitar.
